this release was born of a cross country trip with an 808 drum machine by thomas ragsdale aka winter son, alongside jozef k, resident of famed manchester and ibiza clubnight sankey, as they join perseus traxx to hammer electricity out of machines. with itʼ,,,s rim shots and claps and other transistor rhythms reverberating across vast distances of space, side a is stripped back and deep from the outset, pushing forward as scattered tones, arpeggiations and disjointed voices leave their trails vanishing from perception. side b tightens up from the previous reverbs and throws acid into the mix, as the two join perseus traxx and the sound becomes more raw and urgent as the three of them jam on their chosen machines.

figure 73 introduces a new face to the family - manchester-bread and now berlin-based setaoc mass. after recently launching his own imprint sk_eleven and putting out several releases that already tread in figures lineage of modern, high-precision techno, the label is thrilled to get this promising new artist on board. the five-tracker shows setaoc mass at his most versatile yet and clearly displays the producers talent for constructing both strong atmosphere as well as sheer dance-floor effectiveness.
argentinian producer, live act and tech whizkid alexis cabrera is back with a brand new release, a slice of stepping house, laced with minimal aesthetics on fun records, the recently christened label that he set up with fellow argentinian barem. the label emblem may be just an innocent looking balloon, but the contents of this vinyl release are far from lofty and full of hot air, instead grounding the listener through a mix of organic sound and digital dancefloor rhythms.
cadenza music opens up its 2016 account with the debut single from swiss producers, rare movement feat. disco channel. cutting their teeth on the dj circuit for many years, and playing alongside such esteemed jocks as seth troxler, ricardo villalobos (who mastered the audio on these tracks), jamie jones and luciano (who ultimately signed this single to cadenza), the guys have crafted a pair of tracks that sit right in the dj sets of the aforementioned company. rare 007 combines tension building synths and a wandering bassline, wrapped up tight in solid drum groove, its hypnotizing tones carving out a most useful club tool. on the flip side, rare 011 digs deeper, with cinematic string sweeps over the sparse and bass heavy kick drum. flashes of vocal refrains and micro percussion fly in and out of the arrangement as the melodic elements give this one a real sense of drama as the track blossoms into life. a very accomplished debut from the guys will no doubt provide a real dancefloor moment in the right setting, and no surprise that villalobos gave these tracks the audio master that they deserve.

close to the days of the days, when the maya calendar will come to an end and somthing special is waiting for human beeing, two smart fellas from berlin are contrebuting this happening with the so called popocatepetl ep. popocatepetl is a yet sleeping massive vulcano in mexico, who just recently rumbled to life. it looks like this ep will come up with the same energy and power. four tracks with many statements and diversity and still homogeneous in their substance. to find an own style and esspecialy an own sound is what the two try to push to the fore. if we compare this release to their last successful released track on tonkind schmalwild, we hear this major line, where a transperent empathy is to find. kotelett & zadak, showing on this ep their ability to creat dance music with a certain flow and groove which makes you feel aloof and hot but still laid-back and relaxed. it just shows their own temper and shows us why, this two guys are one of the most beloved djs in berlins underground scene. its their personal spirit what comes up in the music, that makes this release sound so authentic. hopefully people will notice, yet even without any dramatic fireworks, popo has the power to wreak havoc.

two of paris most respected artists get together for their second collaborative extended player this year. dan ghenacia and chris carrier have been entrenched in the electronic scene in their hometown for a long while now, both men building a strong rep through consistently great music and dj performances. earlier this year they joined forces on just a sin, released via carriers adult only label, now theyre back with the follow-up on apollonia. across three deadly tracks, the duo explore their love of music making machines to the fullest each track taking its name from sweet heart, translated into different languages. schatzi works off a modular synth, bursting out of the blocks with a wobbly bassline which supports a range of subtle effects together with infrequent vocal clips. as the track progresses warm rising pads and female vocal snippets create an entrancing atmosphere. next up we get an arabian twist with habibi. a pervading air of mystery presents itself right from the off, with warped voices lurking in the background as the rhythm lures you into its murky groove. as the track progresses more eerie pads and effects are layered over the stepping bassline giving it a very creepy feel. finally, french vibes comes through with cherie on side b. the track draws its energy from the busy, though crisp, percussive elements and a b-line that groans in unison with the beats. a simple chime remains present throughout, keeping it minimal yet interesting.

argument #03 is the third instalment in cage suburbias series of argument eps, as well as their first 12 vinyl release. it shows the duo of haunter records co-founder daniele guerrini (also in heith) and matthias girardi (aka weightausend) raising the confrontation level to a new high. mixing their technoid barrage with jungle breakbeats, noise and dub techniques at various bpm speeds, they do not fail to deliver the usual amount of radical acid distortion. as with the other two arguments, this ep represents a heavy anti- authoritarian stance in both sound and concept. rob the bank. kill the guards : sampling klaus maecks pirate cult classic decoder, cage suburbia openly call for cultural infection and street-wise spiritual resistance. this is punk rock for the paranoid age, insurrectional party music, intelligence research for the funnier side of destruction. as always, its been cut and edited from a series of improvisations on hardware samplers, drum machines and various sound sources, recorded live from a stereo output. comes with a set of stickers to incite riots in your neighbourhood.
